what to expect at a shoot

Each photoshoot is custom tailored to capture the most important and unique aspects of someone's legacy, which looks different for each person. Family, pets, favorite objects, heirlooms, and old photos are often part of a shoot. The vision for each shoot is co-created with the client (typically a family member) and the subject (their loved one.)

The sitting time varies depending on the desires and comfort level of the subject. At least one family member or close friend will need to be present to and willing to be photographed along with their loved one. Their role is to guide the photoshoot and prompt their loved one to share their stories and possessions while they are authentically documented.

For those who choose to invest in the Honoring Lineage package, the subject will be interviewed by the guide and photographer throughout the photoshoot. Excerpts from the interview will be featured in their individualized photo essay book.

    photographer's philosophy

Preserving Legacy is a documentary photo service, meaning it's imperative that subjects feel safe and relaxed while they are being photographed and interviewed. This is to assure that the images reflect the most natural version of themselves. Preserving Legacy shoots are rooted in building trust and cultivating heart-based connections between the subject, client, and photographer.
